A minor treat for foodies, this comedy has two sibling chefs falling out and going their separate ways to set up rival curry houses. With the family cookbook split in two, Raja (Harish Patel) specialises in starters, while Jagi (Kulvinder Ghir) takes care of main courses. Ten years later, Raja's daughter Shalini (Amara Khan) tries to get her dad and uncle to stop feuding and pool their resources, with a view to providing the catering for her wedding. Set among the Anglo-Indian community in Leicester, Jadoo (it's Hindi for "Magic") slips down easily at the start, but the mix of comedy, seriousness and sentiment soon begins to sit a little heavily, while the ending is less a hearty belch, more a mildly apologetic burp. But it's certainly a cute and colourful proposition, and if the story doesn't linger long in the memory, director Amit Gupta's loving depiction of food is something to savour. If nothing else, it's guaranteed to have you craving a curry straight afterwards.
