Toys R Bust! It's a case of diminishing returns as action maestro Michael Bay piles on the heavy metal noise and epic explosions in this super-slick yet soulless sequel. This time Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) uncovers the secret history of the Transformers presence on Earth, which leads him and his girlfriend (Megan Fox) on a mission to save mankind from an ancient threat: the first-ever Decepticon. But neither the silly, fragmented plot nor the proficient acting really matter; the point here is battling giant robots turning into cars, planes and anything else, in spectacular action set pieces. Despite being visually impressive on all counts (the eye-popping images still provide some excitement), the well-staged mayhem feels tiresomely synthetic and the robot characters are just not as engaging. This is certainly not as amusing as Bay's last outing, and the barrage of showstopping battle scenes eventually test the patience by extending the dénouement for way too long.
Plot Summary
Sci-fi action sequel starring Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. The ancient history of the Transformers' presence on Earth is revealed as the human race battles the first ever Decepticon, and once again Sam Witwicky is in the thick of the action.
