Blue Murder at St Trinian's

Blue Murder at St Trinian's

Frank Launder (1957)

U Certificate

Our Score
While hugely enjoyable, the second of Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat's adaptations of Ronald Searle's popular cartoons is something of a disappointment after the riotous success of The Belles of St Trinian's. The main problem is that there's only a fleeting glimpse of Alastair Sim as Miss Fritton, although the story about a tour of Europe and some stolen gems is also somewhat under par. The water polo games are anarchic and the flirting between coach company owner Terry-Thomas and undercover cop Joyce Grenfell is a delight, but too many gags are either rehashed or fall flat.
