Our Score
Frolicking canines and a hint of pathos combine to watchable effect in this adeptly packaged family fare. Emma Roberts and Jake T Austin take the lead roles as orphaned siblings who are assigned to yet another pair of foster parents (played entertainingly by Kevin Dillon and Lisa Kudrow), but then need to find a home for the beloved terrier they've been keeping in secret. Luckily for them, there's an abandoned hotel nearby that soon becomes a refuge not only to their furry friend but also to a whole host of doggie waifs and strays from the streets and the municipal pound. Sure, it's all a bit too good to be true, but younger viewers will enjoy the ably choreographed four-legged mischief, while their parents might find the underlying adoption theme disarmingly affecting. Don Cheadle offers game support as a caring social worker, but he really should be in better movies than this.

An orphaned brother and sister face losing their beloved dog when they go into a foster home that does not allow pets. The kids find the ideal hiding place in an abandoned hotel, and set about transforming it into luxury canine accommodation for not just their beloved pet, but every stray in town. Family comedy, starring Emma Roberts, Jake T Austin, Don Cheadle and Lisa Kudrow.
