The river police are not usually known for their on-screen heroics, but this ripsnorting Bruce Willis vehicle certainly puts them on the map. Willis plays his usual hard-nosed loner, who here finds himself relegated to the unfashionable water cops (and partnered with Sarah Jessica Parker) when he breaks ranks and testifies against a fellow officer. However, a serial killer with an unhealthy interest in Willis's life offers the chance of redemption. The aptly named Rowdy Herrington ensures the action roars along, and the set pieces are suitably big and brash, while the exemplary supporting cast - John Mahoney, Dennis Farina, Tom Sizemore and Robert Pastorelli - can't be faulted.
