Action man Jason Statham shows a softer side here, in the disjointed and poorly scripted third entry in his signature high-flying franchise. As moody driver Frank Martin he's forced to drive kidnapped "package" Valentina (Natalya Rudakova) around Europe until her father, the Ukrainian environmental minister, signs a crooked toxic waste agreement. The eco-villains will kill her if he refuses. Frank is forced to wear a bracelet that's rigged to explode should he wander too far from his car, meaning he and Valentina have to get closer than expected and inevitably fall in love. The irrelevant plot merely serves to showcase the typically outrageous, gravity-defying stunts - cars skidding atop speeding trains - and provide excuses for the ultra-fit Statham to get his kit off - the hilarious strip-fight. But while the "flash, bang, wallop" stuff once used to be fun, this is just boring and more brainless than ever.
