Our Score
This charming tale of animal friendship probably has a lower profile than it deserves, because Disney animation was still reckoned to be in the doldrums when it was produced. A young hound pup is befriended by a fox cub and the youngsters become firm chums. Once grown the hound warns his foxy friend to keep away from the hunt and his cruel master, but the fox proves his courage when he saves the hound from a marauding bear. Hound returns the favour when his wild friend is pursued by the pack in a family parable about the power of friendship. Voices include Mickey Rooney, Kurt Russell and Corey Feldman.

An orphaned fox cub is taken in by a kindly widow, and becomes firm friends with a puppy belonging to a hunter. However, as they grow to adulthood, the dog is trained to prey on foxes, and the two animals realise their friendship may not survive as they are expected to be natural enemies. Animated adventure, with the voices of Mickey Rooney and Kurt Russell.
