Our Score
Steven Seagal and director Keoni Waxman up their game considerably with this intense and brutal crime thriller. Re-teaming following the atrocious The Keeper, they turn a hackneyed plotline into a fast-paced fan-pleaser, as Seagal's ex-Special Forces operative practically comes out of prison fighting after wrongly serving six years for murder. From then on, the action never stops, bringing the angry yet laconic killing machine into contact with an array of stereotypical characters, including muggers, Chinese gangsters, corrupt cops and the Russian Mafia. It's all rather preposterous and increasingly confusing, though delivered with a gung ho energy that's riotously entertaining. Darkly funny dialogue adds to the enjoyment, while the appropriately exaggerated climax provides not one, but two big shoot-outs.

A man falsely convicted of murder is released from prison, only to stumble into a gangland shoot out. Rescuing a woman who had been kidnapped, he battles to protect her from Russian gangsters, corrupt cops and Chinese special agents. Action thriller, starring Steven Seagal and Jeanettea Antonio.
