Director Allan Dwan is one of the great unsung Hollywood heroes, cutting his teeth at the birth of American cinema, directing such silent masterworks as Douglas Fairbanks's Robin Hood and The Iron Mask. He continued after the introduction of sound to notch up over 400 directing credits, his last movie being planned at the age of 82. This is his last western, a low-budget B-movie starring deadpan Scott Brady as a lawyer trying to unmask his father's killer. Brady is given stalwart support by a cast that includes a pre-stardom Anne Bancroft and a pre-Dallas Jim Davis. Dwan manages some nice directorial touches: watch how the characters interact by appearing to eavesdrop on each other as the plot develops.
