3 out of 5
With the paw prints of 101 Dalmatians all over it, this cosy sequel sees the Newton children trying to hide a litter of ultra-cute St Bernard puppies from their still dog-shy father, Charles Grodin. While all eyes will be on the four pups (who were played by over 100 pooches at various times), let's not forget the amiable performances of Grodin and Bonnie Hunt, and the Cruella-like villainy of scheming Debi Mazar, who dognaps Missy (Beethoven's beloved) to use as a pawn in her divorce. The holiday finale is hopelessly contrived, but the whole still entertains. The song The Day I Fall in Love was Oscar nominated.
Plot Summary
Comedy starring Charles Grodin. Beethoven falls for fellow St Bernard Missy, but the path to true love is seldom smooth and the dogs begin a complicated romance aided by Beethoven's family, the Newtons.
