Comedy drama starring Reg Varney. A holiday camp entertainer, low on talent but high on ambition, is convinced that he just needs one good break to get into the big time. His determination to make it is so great that he is totally unaware of the way his family life is crumbling around him.
Taking a break from the buses, Reg Varney finds himself at a holiday camp in this old-fashioned seaside comedy. Although he's the world's worst entertainer, our Reg is convinced that the big time is just a soft-shoe shuffle away. But his ambition blinds him to the fact that his wife, Diana Coupland, is playing away from home with his boss. A trouper through and through, Varney always tries to make the most of even the lowest-grade material, yet even he struggles to pep up this maudlin mess, which has faint echoes of Tony Hancock's The Punch and Judy Man.
