Hollywood's favourite tomboy gets a swanky makeover in director Donald Petrie's romantic comedy. Unfortunately a lazy script takes the shine off Lindsay Lohan's role as a girl spoiled by her good fortune. After a wearisome preamble that sees her find cash on the streets, score a hot date and mistakenly get Sarah Jessica Parker's dry cleaning, Lohan kisses the hapless Chris Pine, an aspiring music promoter. Suddenly her luck runs out, but it's obvious that fate has contrived to bring them together. So it's hard to feel sorry for our heroine when she slips in mud and receives a mild electric shock from changing a light bulb. Lohan is a gifted comedian, yet director Donald Petrie runs out of ideas for making the character likeable. A smattering of pratfalls and musical interludes by pop band McFly only amplify the flaws.
