Airplane II: the Sequel

Airplane! was always going to be a hard act to follow and this time the scattergun approach to the script carries more misfires and duds than normal. Still, the two leads from the original (Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty) are back on board again and the endless silliness of it all should win people over in the end. This time the flimsy storyline revolves around the first commercial flight to the Moon, but most of the fun to be had is in watching veteran actors taking turns in sending up their screen personae. Newcomers include William Shatner, Sonny Bono, Chuck Connors and Raymond Burr, but it is Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves who once again shine.

Plot Summary

Comedy starring Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty. Disgraced pilot Ted Striker escapes from hospital and boards the first passenger shuttle to the Moon, knowing that essential test work has not been done. Sure enough, his skills are called upon when the captain is gassed and another crew member turns to jelly.
