A holiday in a luxury South Pacific resort turns out to involve a chastening programme of marital therapy in this ensemble frolic, co-written by and co-starring Swingers duo Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. The trip has been organised by Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell in a last ditch attempt to save their marriage, but the compulsory ministrations of Jean Reno's self-styled "couples whisperer" also highlights the tensions within the relationships of their friends - workaholic Vaughn and his long-suffering spouse Malin Akerman, and Favreau and his other half Kristin Davis. The storyline also struggles to encompass the travails of their divorcee chum Faizon Love, meaning there's way too much character set-up and rather too few laughs. Although Vaughn is appealing in an uninspiring "regular guy" role, and Favreau's game for sundry humiliations as the 40-something lecher in the group, there's more midlife crisis on display here than rollicking wit.
