Our Score
The car's the star in Herbie: Fully Loaded, in which the Disney franchise is rescued from the scrapyard and given a new lease of life. This time Lindsay Lohan takes the wheel for a jolly ride down memory lane, back to a time when kid's flicks didn't count on gross-out gags for cheap laughs. Conversely, grown-ups will find it lacking in sophisticated humour, but the spirit of mischief is hard to resist as Herbie flips his bonnet over a sexy modern Beetle or surfs the crash barriers in an impromptu road race. Together, Lohan and the vintage VW make a winning team, and director Angela Robinson keeps the action zipping along at a fast pace. Michael Keaton adds heart to the story playing Lohan's disapproving dad, and, as the rival speed demon, Matt Dillon is the perfect pantomime baddie. It's hardly ground-breaking stuff, but younger viewers will surely lap it up.

Summary

The daughter of a stock-car racer finds an old banger in a scrapyard that turns out to be Herbie, the lovable Beetle with a life of its own. The youngster sets about fixing him up and persuading her overprotective dad to let her follow in his tracks, in a bid to rewrite the racing record books. Disney comedy sequel, with Lindsay Lohan, Michael Keaton, Matt Dillon, Breckin Meyer and Justin Long.
