Our Score
Only the very curious need bother with this truly lousy TV-movie sequel to 1968's Rosemary's Baby. Made eight years after Roman Polanski's classic occult thriller, the hole-riddled and now seriously dated cash-in sees the titular infant reach adulthood and attempt to outrun his legacy as Satan's son. Stephen McHattie has little to do except look confused playing the unfortunate devil's spawn Adrian/Andrew, while returning coven leaders Minnie (Ruth Gordon reprising her original Oscar-winning role) and Roman (Ray Milland) fill in the story gaps and act as a linking device for the poorly written and often ridiculous events. Ultimately, there's not one second of tension or creepiness, though a few moments are likely to stick with you merely for their silliness - particularly during Adrian/Andrew's laugh-inducing coming-of-age ceremony. Unsubtle direction and lashings of scenery-chewing compound the film's weaknesses, and render the obvious, twist ending especially clumsy and underwhelming.

The mother of a demonic child helps her son escape the clutches of the coven that brought about his conception. As he grows to adulthood, he struggles to resist the cult's plans for his future. Horror sequel, starring Stephen McHattie, Patty Duke and Ruth Gordon, reprising her Oscar-winning role from the original film.
