Our Score
This masala melodrama has the distinction of being the first Bollywood production to make it into the top 20 of the US box office. It features Akshaye Khanna as a millionaire's son who vies with music tycoon Anil Kapoor to defy class prejudice and the ruthless materialism of modern society in order to win the heart of folk singer Aishwarya Rai (who won the 1994 Miss World contest). Previously best known for Pardes (1997), director Subhash Ghai borrows liberally from such blockbusters as Dil Se, Bombay and Dil To Pagal Hai to fashion this delightful star-crossed romance.
