The Black Cauldron

The Black Cauldron

Ted Berman, Richard Rich (1985)

U Certificate

Our Score
The most distinguished element of this medium-rated Disney animation, from a Tolkien-like series by Lloyd Alexander, is the solemn intonation of narrator John Huston. Otherwise, it's standard stuff about likeable teenagers (of course!) trying to stop the Horned King and co from using a magic cauldron to raise an Army of the Dead. As sword and sorcery goes, it's potboiling stuff.

A pig farmer struggles to stop an evil king taking control of a supernatural cauldron with the power to grant immortality, and sets out to bring an end to the villain's reign of terror with a trusty band of friends. Animated fantasy adventure, with the voices of John Hurt, Grant Bardsley and Nigel Hawthorne.
