Review

Our Score
Writer/director Karan Johar confirms the promise of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai with this intense family saga brought to life by some of Bollywood's biggest stars. Hrithik Roshan travels to London in the hope of uniting adopted sibling Shah Rukh Khan with Amitabh Bachchan, the proud father who disowned his youngest son after he married a chatty Punjabi shop owner, played by Kajol. With Jaya Bachchan piling on the piety as Amitabh's wife and Kareena Kapoor providing light relief as Kajol's mischievous sister, there are several shifts in mood and plenty of memorable musical moments. Thankfully the overriding emphasis on barnstorming melodrama also means there are few longueurs in a movie with such an epic running time.

Summary

The adopted but much loved older son of a rich couple is banished by his father when he chooses to marry a poor girl. With a desire to reunite his family, the younger son sets out to find him.
