The Rounders

The Rounders

Burt Kennedy (1965)

A Certificate

Our Score
This amiable comedy western pairs Glenn Ford and Henry Fonda, two of the screen's most watchable veterans. The film is basically a series of incidents, affectionately directed by cowboy specialist Burt Kennedy and containing a nice line in very 1960s risqué humour. In the UK this went out as a co-feature, but, although MGM did little to promote it, the movie proved to be a nice little earner for the studio. No great surprises, but very pleasant viewing, and there are some fine sequences featuring the delightful Sue Ane Langdon, familiar from a couple of Elvis Presley movies.

Two modern-day cowboys are always on the lookout for a way to get rich, but their plans never seem to work out. When they are tricked into taking ownership of a horse that refuses to accept any rider, they see a chance to make a fortune by betting rodeo riders they cannot break in the animal. Comedy Western, starring Henry Fonda, Glenn Ford, Sue Ann Langdon, Hope Holiday and Chill Wills.
