Director John Hughes unexpectedly missed the target with this oversentimental comedy about a young girl and her con artist travelling companion (James Belushi) who attempt to take Chicago lawyer Kelly Lynch for a ride. Belushi is always watchable, but even he can't make up for the cutesy performance of Alisan Porter in the title role. It's one for younger viewers who may enjoy seeing a little girl getting everything she ever wanted, but not one for parents, who may find that concept rather worrying.

Plot Summary

Comedy starring James Belushi, Kelly Lynch and Alisan Porter. The vagrant lifestyles of nine-year-old Curly Sue and her guardian Bill Dancer are changed forever when they try to con a high-powered lawyer.
