Oh, dear. It's Michael Caine chasing his father's Nazi legacy either to atone for or rebuild Hitler's empire. It's easy to blame once-talented director John Frankenheimer (The Manchurian Candidate) for making this farrago unwatchable, but the more likely obstacle is that the source material - Robert Ludlum's airport lounge thriller - is cinematically intractable. The locations look good, Lilli Palmer is tragically graceful, and Anthony Andrews manfully struggles with an impossible role as Caine's brother.

Toward the end of the Second World War, three rebellious German generals embezzle a fortune in government funds into a secret account, intending for it to be used as reparations for the regime's war crimes. Decades later, the son of one of the officers goes in search of the lost money, but is pursued by members of a fascist conspiracy. Thriller, starring Michael Caine and Anthony Andrews.
