Director Guy Ritchie has a lot to answer for. His 1998 crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels spawned a number of copycats, with a few being worthy successors, but most taking some right liberties. This dodgy offering from writer/director/star Ricky Grover comes near the bottom of the second pile. Grover stars as his alter ego Bulla (hardman star of the now defunct 11 0'Clock Show and numerous YouTube sketches), who is released from a 16-year prison sentence into the hands of a documentary film crew. The film starts promisingly enough, with a few amusing pops at the whole "mockney" genre, but then degenerates into a chaotic and tasteless story that involves Bulla trying to save his aunt's (EastEnders' Laila Morse) pub from closure. And although there are a number of notable cameos (including Peter Capaldi as a therapist with more hang-ups than your average psycho, Steven Berkoff as Bulla's guru and Omid Djalili as his put-upon financial advisor), they are woefully underused and frankly should have known better in the first place. This is a painful example of what happens when you stretch a fun 90-second skit to a 90-minute feature.

An east London criminal is released from prison and returns to his old neighbourhood, with a film crew documenting his story. He finds the area has changed while he was locked up and tries to rebuild his reputation, while also trying to save his aunt's pub. Spoof crime documentary, directed by and starring Ricky Grover. With Omid Djalili and Steven Berkoff.
