Our Score
After his directorial debut with the superb Black Stallion, Carroll Ballard spent two years on location in British Columbia making this captivating adaptation of Farley Mowat's autobiographical account of his time spent with a pack of wolves. Charles Martin Smith plays Tyler, a young scientist who, with the help of the Inuit who saved his life, not only learns all about the frozen wilderness and the people who live there, but also discovers who is responsible for ravaging the local caribou herds. As you'd expect of Ballard, a cameraman on Star Wars, the photography is awesome, but Smith's performance is a bit special, too.

Fact-based drama about a Canadian author who embarked on a solitary journey into the Arctic to study the behaviour of wolves, convinced they posed a real threat to humankind - only to be shocked by his findings. Starring Charles Martin Smith and Brian Dennehy.
