Review

Our Score
Dr Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the supposed inspiration for this festive frolic, in which Tony Danza plays a crook who finds work as a small-town Santa while laying low from the law. It's not long before he's torn between robbing a bank and mending his ways, as Christmas tree farmer Lea Thompson and her young daughter (Angela Goethals) work their wholesome magic on his softening centre. Director Dick Lowry is no Frank Capra, but he keeps this predictable tale the right side of kitsch long enough for it to be undemandingly gratifying.

Summary

A fugitive lies low in a small town, where he starts to plan his next job on the local bank. However, as he gets involved in the everyday life of the community - even playing Santa for the children - he is dogged by doubts and second thoughts as he reflects on how warmly the residents have welcomed him. Crime comedy, starring Tony Danza, Lea Thompson and Betty White.
