Wild Geese II

Wild Geese II

Peter Hunt (1985)

18 Certificate

Our Score
This infantile follow-up (it's a rip-off, not a sequel) to The Wild Geese hinges on a gang of mercenaries trying to get the ageing Rudolf Hess (Laurence Olivier in a positively embarrassing performance) out of Spandau Prison. It revamps the original - itself borrowing heavily from Aldrich's Dirty Dozen - in having a brutal and tedious training sequence before the actual mission. The film is cobbled together by director Peter Hunt with leaden predictability and absolutely no narrative flow whatsoever.

A team of mercenaries is hired to break into Germany's infamous Spandau prison and release Nazi war criminal Rudolf Hess, with the intention of forcing him to reveal the top secret information he has been concealing since the Second World War. Action adventure sequel, starring Scott Glenn, Barbara Carrera, Edward Fox and Laurence Olivier.
