Waking on Saturday morning beside casual pick-up Glen (Chris New), introverted lifeguard Russell (Tom Cullen) reluctantly agrees to be interviewed about their encounter for a project that art gallery assistant Glen is working on. Forced outside his comfort zone, Russell quickly finds himself becoming more deeply attracted to the garrulous stranger, whose own avowed commitment phobia comes increasingly under strain as the pair do drugs, have sex and reveal their secrets. It's only during a chat with straight best friend Jamie (Jonathan Race) that Russell realises this could be more than just a one-night stand - but Glen is leaving on Sunday evening for a two-year stay in the States. Writer/director Andrew Haigh breathes new life into the old adage that opposites attract in this beautifully shot and engaging love story. It's splendidly played with an understated intensity that deftly captures the shifting emotional tone of the relationship.
