Who knew the 16th President of the United States was the scourge of the undead? Seth Grahame-Smith adapts his own novel for this outlandish, action-packed story, brought to life by director Timur Bekmambetov, whose imaginative action scenes have fuelled the likes of Night Watch, Day Watch and Wanted. Benjamin Walker makes for a likeable, credible hero, holding his own through the main vampire action and the anti-slavery subplot, however improbable it all becomes. Terrific supporting turns from Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper add spice to a wildly enjoyable supernatural yarn that's guaranteed to have you leaping out of your seat. The premise may be pretty ridiculous, but this movie surprises by actually making sense.

Plot Summary

Horror thriller starring Benjamin Walker. Young Abraham Lincoln's mother dies after being attacked by plantation owner Jack Barts, but it's not until nine years later when he tries to avenge her death that Lincoln discovers Barts is a vampire. Trained by dissident bloodsucker Henry Sturges, Lincoln resolves to tackle the vampire scourge, but, as his political power increases, he makes himself a target for an enemy that plans to rule over the whole of America.
