This is yet another potboiler from the author whose work recalls the thrillers of Agatha Christie, but with a much darker tone. Sadly, it lacks the ingenuity of Christie's classic whodunnits, so it won't take you long to detect who was responsible for the bizarre country-house murder of Donna Mills's stepmother. We're so accustomed to seeing Mills as a sob sister that it takes a while to get used to her as a sleuth. However, she does a solid job in disproving police theories and establishing that a twisted criminal mastermind is at work.

Plot Summary

An inquisitive photographer investigates the murder of her wealthy stepmother - refusing to believe the police's theory that the crime was a random killing - and unearths a plot to swindle elderly nursing-home residents out of their life savings. Mystery thriller, starring Donna Mills, Scott Hylands and Winston Rekert.
