Our Score
The spirit of the B-western lingers on in this well-told tale, which sees Lou Diamond Phillips's mixed race outlaw become the last hope of the repressed residents of an 1850s mining town. Determined to keep his head down after a stretch for armed robbery, Phillips endures the tyranny of tycoon Warren Stevens and his sadistic sidekick, Richard Tyson. But his love for Tyson's put-upon, pregnant mistress, Marina Black, finally prompts him to seek an alliance with ineffectual lawman Lee Majors and stoic farmer Ernest Borgnine. But his success is threatened by the arrival of his onetime partner in crime (David Shackleford).
