Our Score
Written by John Briley, who went on to script Gandhi and Cry Freedom, this is a quietly effective thriller that combines the kinetic thrills of a disaster movie with Omen-style shocks. Richard Burton is a novelist driven to the brink of insanity by his murderous mental powers, while Lee Remick is the psychiatrist attempting to piece together the puzzle. Director Jack Gold keeps this amiable tosh ticking along very nicely, aided by lavish production values, some spectacular disaster footage (a cathedral crashing around the heads of its parishioners, a jumbo jet hitting a tower block) and an impressive roster of British support players. Burton's the anchor, though. Even on autopilot, as he was for too much of his film career, he proves as watchable as a roomful of Pacinos or De Niros.

A police officer faces a desperate race against time to thwart a comatose man who unwittingly uses his considerable telekinetic powers to cause a series of increasingly catastrophic disasters. Horror, starring Richard Burton, Lino Ventura, Lee Remick and Harry Andrews.
