A heart transplant operation turns into a real nightmare for Hayden Christensen in this botched medical thriller. Debut writer/director Joby Harold's movie begins in daytime soap opera territory, as wealthy businessman Clayton Beresford tries to hide his relationship with Sam (Jessica Alba) from his controlling mother (Lena Olin). But when he's called in for life-saving heart surgery, events in the operating room don't go according to plan. Or do they? Harold attempts to circumvent his lead character's passive predicament by showing Clayton apparently stepping out of his own body, but that ploy is undermined by Christensen's lethargic performance. Terrence Howard provides the only spark of interest as the chief surgeon, but beyond the visceral impact of scalpel breaking skin, there is little here to get the adrenaline pumping.
Plot Summary
