Our Score
Whoopi Goldberg returns here as Las Vegas cabaret singer Deloris, who dons her Sister Mary Clarence habit to teach music to a bad-attitude class at a run-down high school. This OK sequel resembles a cross between To Sir with Love and Fame, and Goldberg delivers the good-education/family-values/follow-your-dream messages with likeable enough charm. But the familiar "nuns just want to have fun" concept is treated in heavy-handed fashion by director Bill Duke and the chorus nuns from the original film are disappointingly relegated to mere background. Still, the musical sequences are lively enough and Maggie Smith gives her usual sterling support.

A cabaret singer who once hid out in a convent is reunited with the nuns she befriended, who now need her help. She poses as a member of the order once more and joins the staff of a Catholic school threatened with closure, where she aims to make a success of the resident choir. Comedy sequel, starring Whoopi Goldberg, Kathy Najimy, Lauryn Hill, Maggie Smith and James Coburn.
