Review

Our Score
In this decent psychological western, Burt Lancaster plays a rancher's adopted son who always supports or takes the rap for his brother, a heel played by snivelling, sneering Robert Walker. A woman comes between them - she even gets pregnant - and we're into Eugene O'Neill territory or a Wild West spin on Cain and Abel. It's nicely shot in the Rocky Mountains and western buffs will quickly note that you get two Wyatt Earps for your money here: Lancaster played him in the classic Gunfight at the OK Corral while further down the cast list is Hugh O'Brian, who played Earp in a long-running TV series.

Summary

Selfish rancher's son Lee is constantly having his misdeeds covered up by his adoptive brother Owen, whom he grows to hate. When Lee gets a woman pregnant, he convinces her furious family that Owen is the father of the child, leaving him in danger of violent reprisals. Western, starring Burt Lancaster, Robert Walker and Joanne Dru.
