Review

Our Score
A well-preserved Jaclyn Smith leads a proficient cast in this simple though solid Hallmark drama. She plays a career-orientated judge who learns valuable lessons about family and forgiveness when she takes temporary custody of a troubled 16-year-old foster child (Desperate Housewives' Lyndsy Fonseca). The storyline is predictable yet compelling, and benefits from sympathetic characters and convincing performances. TV-movie veteran Michael Switzer directs efficiently, and keeps events moving steadily while making attractive and atmospheric use of the San Diego locations. But it's Fonseca's ability to capture the loneliness and distress of teenager Sally that really raises the film above its clich├ęs.
