Despite the high production values and a starry cast, this remains mild, soft-core entertainment for those with designer macs. Kim Basinger is the successful career woman who falls under the spell of the mysterious Mickey Rourke and finds herself being led into dangerous sexual waters. It's complete tosh, of course, and the storyline is so slim that it just becomes a series of beautifully composed nude encounters. However, Adrian Lyne's flashy directorial style gives the material a glossy surface sheen that it barely deserves. Co-scripted by Zalman King, who has gone on to become the king of erotic dramas, directing such films as Two-Moon Junction and Wild Orchid (also starring Rourke).
