The Bandit of Sherwood Forest

The Bandit of Sherwood Forest

George Sherman, Henry Levin (1946)

U Certificate

Our Score
In this swashbuckler, Cornel Wilde stars as Robin Hood's son, who takes on Henry Daniell's wayward regent in a bid to save Britain from constitutional disaster. It's really little more than a western in medieval costumes and with added peasantry, shot on the Columbia backlot in bright-as-a-button Technicolor. It's not a patch on Errol Flynn's classic The Adventures of Robin Hood, but an undemanding romp all the same.

The son of Robin Hood reunites his father's merry men to carry out a rescue mission at the request of the Queen Mother. The rightful king of England is being held captive by a cruel lord, who intends to seize the throne himself and repeal the freedoms the English people have been granted under Magna Carta. Swashbuckling adventure, starring Cornel Wilde and Anita Louise.
