In this well-written but essentially by-the-numbers western from director Jesse Hibbs, Audie Murphy is up against a crooked sheriff and a corrupt lawyer as he seeks revenge for the murder of his rancher father and kid brother. Susan Cabot plays the nice girl, while Abbe Lane is the far more interesting saloon singer. Dan Duryea's rich performance as a likeable badman steals the film from the ever stolid Murphy, and Jack Elam registers as one of the bad guys.
