In this charmless fantasy fable, a dead rock musician is resurrected as a snowman to watch over the son he neglected when he was alive. Unfortunately, Michael Keaton makes for a sinister looking Frost-dad and his casting requires an energetic leap of imagination, particularly in the snowboarding scenes. Everything else is pretty unbelievable, too, from the fake looking snow-creation (substandard work from Jim Henson's Creature Shop) to the inanity of Keaton's fatherly assistance. If it had been played as broad farce it might have worked. Sadly, the four scriptwriters decided to aim for the emotional resonance of Ghost, coating the whole movie in sickly icing.
