Angela Lansbury may not have made the most convincing Miss Marple, but she's perfectly cast as Jessica Fletcher, the mystery writer whose very presence seems to act as a catalyst for murder. This time she's attending a literary convention when Russian novelist Duncan Regehr succumbs to a deadly enemy. But with every suspect capable of spinning a credible yarn, it's going to take Jessica's genius for spotting the unlikeliest clue to crack the case. Director Anthony Pullen Shaw wisely adheres to the tone and tempo of the long-running TV series, allowing Lansbury to dominate - although Richard Crenna does provide accomplished support.
