Escape Route

Escape Route

Seymour Friedman, Peter Graham Scott (1952)

U Certificate

Our Score
Looking every one of his 57 years, George Raft gives a fair impression of a man who has had his arms welded to his sides in this dismissable quickie thriller. One of the handful of films Raft made in Europe after his Hollywood fortunes dipped, it's a lightweight affair in which he plays an FBI agent called in to discover who is smuggling scientists to the east. The villain's identity is painfully obvious, as is the distaste with which undercover operative Sally Gray smooches her ageing co-star.

George Raft stars as an FBI agent sent to London to investigate a spate of kidnappings involving nuclear scientists. Sally Gray co-stars as the sleuth's British contact, in this mildly entertaining crime thriller, that at least boasts an explosive conclusion.
