Final Appointment

Final Appointment

Terence Fisher (1954)

U Certificate

Our Score
Despite cutting a dash in low-budget fare such as this, John Bentley never quite made it as a movie star and ended up in Crossroads, married to Noele Gordon. Here he plays an ace reporter who links a series of killings all occurring on 10 July to a wartime court martial. With help from assistant Eleanor Summerfield, he tracks down the sole surviving officer involved in the trial, but there's a sting in the tail. Director Terence Fisher (soon to become Hammer's most important film-maker) clearly enjoyed this brisk B-movie, as he reused the characters in Stolen Assignment the following year.

Capable thriller, starring John Bentley as a journalist who discovers a series of murders while investigating anonymous threats against a retired Army officer. With Eleanor Summerfield, Jean Lodge, Liam Redmond and Hubert Gregg.
