What's Good for the Goose

What's Good for the Goose

Menahem Golan (1969)

PG Certificate

Our Score
With a contrived title and a simply appalling script (co-written by Norman Wisdom himself), this is one of the biggest blots on the British movie copybook. Directed by Menahem Golan with no feel for Wisdom's unique brand of comedy, it is jam-packed with cringeworthy moments, which follow so hard on each other that you find yourself watching with morbid fascination to see how low it can actually stoop. It's easy to understand why Wisdom would want to escape from his usual sentimental character, but Norman the sexy banker? No wonder he didn't make another film for three years.

Norman Wisdom stars as an ageing bank manager whose life turns upside down during a company conference where he falls for a beautiful girl. Comedy, with Sally Geeson, Terence Alexander and Sarah Atkinson.
