Review

Our Score
This musical is a pleasant enough time-waster, with Elvis Presley in a very back-projected Mexico and a decidedly substandard score, though Bossa Nova Baby was a minor hit. The women, though, are pretty sensational: here's Ursula Andress, fresh from Dr No, plus beautiful Elsa Cardenas as a sexy lady bullfighter, no less. Director Richard Thorpe once guided the King through the untamed Jailhouse Rock - the results are much tamer here. Paul Lukas (winner of the best actor Oscar for Watch on the Rhine) is also on hand, stealing the show as a batty chef. Don't look too closely at Elvis in the acrobatic sequences - they're stock material from The Greatest Show on Earth with Presley matching Cornel Wilde's Olympic movements!

Summary

A former trapeze artist tries to put a work-related tragedy behind him by taking a job as a lifeguard and entertainer in a luxury hotel at the Mexican resort. He ends up contending with the considerable wiles of his beautiful boss and a female matador who each have romantic designs on him. Musical comedy, starring Elvis Presley, Ursula Andress, Paul Lukas and Alejandro Rey.
