Our Score
The English language - and dialogue in particular - is a tricky blighter for action stars such as Jean-Claude Van Damme and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and it also proves a problem for the heavily accented Dolph Lundgren in this awful action adventure. The makers played safe and cast the non-syllabic one as a Soviet agent, who is sent to a warring African state to take out a resistance leader. However, because Lundgren is the good guy, he has a change of heart and converts to the forces of freedom. Inexplicably, this was a big hit on video, perhaps because there's loads of mindless mass destruction, but the script and the performances make Rambo look positively Wildean.
