Review

Our Score
In an enjoyable "paella" western, Russ Tamblyn portrays the title character, a youngster out to kill the man who deserted his mother 20 years earlier. Many of the characters are Mexican, giving an opportunity for Spanish actors (including Fernando Rey as a cattle rancher) to speak English with appropriate accents. The complicated plot features warring American outlaws and Mexican bandidos, but the scenery is terrific, the score rousing and the action briskly handled. It adds up to an ambitious if predictable western, with few of the incongruous touches that affected most European-made horse operas of the time.
