Our Score
Its title harks back to Random Harvest, one of cinema's greatest tear-jerkers, but this affair of the heart is intended for a more worldly audience. When Washington cop Harrison Ford and Republican congresswoman Kristin Scott Thomas discover that their respective spouses have died in the same plane crash, they are drawn together over the realisation that their partners were having an affair. Sydney Pollack directs with real skill, convincingly portraying the emotional complications of middle-aged passion, and is aided by the marvellous performances of Ford and Scott Thomas, though the action sequences often seem out of tune with the romance.

A police officer meets a politician after discovering their partners had died together in a plane crash, and finds the details of the case do not add up. Suspecting the deceased were having an affair, they investigate - and grow closer as they learn to overcome their grief and anger together. Romantic drama, starring Harrison Ford, Kristin Scott Thomas and Charles S Dutton. Directed by and co-starring Sydney Pollack.
