That suave, scene-stealing cat from Shrek 2 finally gets his own swashbuckling adventure and it couldn't be a more colourful feline fairy tale. Here the dashing Puss (impeccably voiced by Antonio Banderas) finds romance with slinky Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek) as they team up with Puss's former partner-in-crime Humpty Dumpty (Zach Galifianakis) on a quest for a golden goose. This lively romp from Shrek the Third director Chris Miller veers delightfully between Mother Goose, Zorro and Sergio Leone western, and is lovely to look at, cleverly written (with minimal in-jokes, thank goodness) and beautifully visualised. Everything from the hilarious dance fights to the swooping chases up beanstalks and over bridges are superbly choreographed and consistently exciting. The cat puns are rife yet always amusing, and while that cute big eyes gag is used quite a few times, it never gets old.
