Our Score
Let's not hold Justin Timberlake's appearance in Bad Teacher against him. Generally, the singer turned actor has picked his film roles well (The Social Network). So, too, has Mila Kunis, who made an impression as Natalie Portman's nemesis in Black Swan. Here, the young stars team up as work professionals who test out the hoary old conundrum of whether a friendship can survive the addition of sex, minus the emotional involvement. It's a well-worn furrow, ploughed in the very same year by Portman and Ashton Kutcher in No Strings Attached. But Timberlake and Kunis are likeable leads and they handle their banter with ease. Director Will Gluck (Easy A) tries a touch too hard to make it hip, and wanders off track a little towards the end, but this is still smarter, funnier and more rewarding than the average romantic comedy.
