The original title of this slick but implausible French drama translates as "The Man Who Wanted to Live His Life". It's less snappy than The Big Picture, but maybe more descriptive. Gallic heart-throb Romain Duris (The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Heartbreaker) plays a lawyer and amateur photographer whose life is steadily diverging from his ideal of it. When he accidentally kills his wife's lover, a professional photographer, he sees and seizes the chance to change his circumstances. Eric Lartigau's film is glossily watchable, but it's hampered by a central conceit that never really convinces, and not even a cameo from screen legend Catherine Deneuve can lift proceedings.
Plot Summary
Drama starring Romain Duris. Lawyer Paul Exben is successful but unfulfilled, and also believes his wife is having an affair with a jet-setting photographer. When he confronts her lover, Paul is presented with an opportunity to start a new life - but it's not without risk.
